Kitchen Refurbishment

Complete kitchen design and installation, from layout changes to full structural alterations.

What we do

A kitchen refurbishment isn't just about new cupboards and worktops. In most Croydon homes, especially Victorian and Edwardian terraces, the kitchen is undersized, poorly laid out, or stuck in a dark galley at the back of the house. A proper kitchen project might involve knocking through to a dining room, removing a load-bearing wall with a steel beam, re-routing plumbing and electrics, and rethinking the whole ground-floor layout before a single unit goes in.

That's what we do. We design and install kitchens as part of a wider building project, not just a unit swap. If you want to knock through two rooms into one open-plan kitchen-diner, move a boiler, add underfloor heating, re-plumb for an island sink, or build an extension to create the space in the first place, we handle all of it. We work with several kitchen suppliers but we're not tied to any brand — you choose the units, worktops, and appliances that suit your taste and budget, and we manage the installation.

We also do straightforward kitchen refurbishments where the layout stays the same but everything else changes: new units, new worktops, new tiling, re-plastered walls, new flooring, upgraded electrics. Not every kitchen needs a structural overhaul. We'll give you honest advice on what's worth doing and what isn't.

What to expect

A clear, predictable process from first conversation to final sign-off.

1

Design consultation

We visit, measure the space, and discuss what you want. If you already have a kitchen design, we review it. If not, we can produce layouts and help you think through the options. We’ll flag any structural or plumbing issues that affect what’s possible.

2

Quotation and specification

We provide a detailed quote for all building, plumbing, electrical, and installation work. Kitchen units and appliances are quoted separately by the supplier, so you have full control over that budget.

3

Strip-out and structural work

The existing kitchen is stripped. If walls are being removed, steelwork goes in first. Plumbing and electrics are re-routed to suit the new layout. The floor is levelled and prepared.

4

First fix services

All plumbing, electrics, gas, and underfloor heating (if applicable) are installed to first fix stage. Everything is tested and inspected before the walls are closed up.

5

Kitchen installation

Units, worktops, splashbacks, and appliances are fitted. This is the stage where it all comes together. We coordinate deliveries and installation to keep things moving without delays.

6

Finishing and handover

Final electrics (sockets, switches, under-cabinet lighting), plumbing connections, decoration, and snagging. We test every appliance, check every door and drawer, and make sure you’re happy before we finish.

Typical costs

£15,000 – £60,000+

A straightforward kitchen refurbishment (new units, worktops, tiling, flooring, and decoration in the same layout) typically costs £15,000–£25,000 in South London, depending on the units and worktops you choose. Projects involving structural changes — knocking through walls, moving plumbing, adding steelwork — usually fall between £30,000 and £60,000+. Kitchen unit costs vary hugely depending on the supplier and specification, so we quote the building work and installation separately.

Typical timeline: 4–8 weeks on site for a kitchen refurbishment without structural changes. 8–14 weeks if the project includes knocking through walls, structural steelwork, or re-routing services. Allow time beforehand for design, ordering units (lead times can be 4–8 weeks), and any Building Control submissions.
